Hometown Collection is proud to offer accessibility options for all our homeowners. Work with our designers and builders to create a home customized to your needs. Our floor plans and features can support aging in place, wheelchair accessibility, and mobility accommodations. Reach out to learn more about our accessible homes and collaborative building process!

Accessibility Features

You can customize your home with as many accessibility features as you need. Our designers and builders love to collaborate with future residents to make their homes a place where they feel confident and comfortable. Available accessibility features include, but are not limited to:

Wheelchair mobility: We can install ramps to the porches, garage, and basement. We can add platform lifts to the optional loft or sling tracks for increased mobility.
Wide doorways and hallways: If you need extra space to move around, we can widen doorways and hallways, including the exterior doors. We can also add offset hinges to pull doors out of the way.
Walk-in or roll-in showers and bathtubs: All of our showers and bathtubs can be modified to be accessible by walking or wheelchair. We can alter the dimensions to fit a table or chair.
Railings and grab bars: We can install railings, grab bars, and other supports along stairwells or anywhere else in your home you would find helpful.

This is only a short list of the accessibility features you can add to your home. If you have other customizations that would help you live comfortably, we’re happy to discuss how to install them in one of our floor plans.

Collaborate With Our Designers

Every home we build is a collaboration with its future resident. You’re involved in the building process every step of the way, especially if you need unique accessibility features added to the design. The collaborative process typically involves:

Meetings with our designers and builders: We’ll initially meet to get a broad sense of what you want and need in your home design. After our first meeting, we’ll continue to put our heads together to discuss details or things that come up throughout the process.
Consultations with external experts: We work with industry experts to design, customize, and install your unique accessibility features. We’ll involve you in all our meetings and discussions with those experts.
Approval of all changes: This is your future home, and you’ll have a chance to review and approve any modifications to the original plan. You can also add details as the building progresses.
